EndNote: Creating a Library

• Create One Library per Project/Paper:
  • Limits errors to a single library
  • Enables sharing library with collaborators, assistants, and staff
• Select a location to create and save your:
  • Project folder
  • EndNote Library files (.enl and .Data) 
  • Use a standard naming format
    • Topic_EndNote
    • For example, Advil_EndNote

• Do Not use EndNote Online without Training:
  • First, please contact the Biomedical Librarians at: library@moffitt.org 
  • Common issues 
    • accidental deletion of your library
    • corrupting your library
• To share your library, use:
  • "Compressed Library (.enlx)" 

• When you create a library, EndNote creates two files:
  • .enl
  • .Data      
• !!Warning!!
  • To use your library, both files need to be together
  • Your EndNote library will not work if:
    • these files are separated, or
    • one is deleted
